Grad™ Mini Rail

Grad™ Mini Rail clips are factory-placed in position, so the installer simply fastens the rails onto the sheathing or vapor barrier and snaps the boards on. The rails create a natural air gap so there’s no need to install furring strips ahead of time.  Based on the desired aesthetic, Mini Rails come in two different gap sizes and can be installed vertically or horizontally.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Patented clips pre-mounted on aluminum rails
  • Uniform spacing for the perfect look
  • Built-in air gap behind the boards
  • A true hidden fastening system
  • 50% faster installation time
  • Made of 100% recyclable aluminum and POM (polyoxymethylene)
  • No pre-drilling of the boards or rails required

Kebony Cladding Board

Our Clear grade Cladding Board was designed to give you the look you want without being overwhelmed with custom profile options. Kebony DvB New Additions: The Minne Stuga

Kebony DvB New Additions: The Minne Stuga

When selecting a material to clad The Minne Stuga, homeowner Melissa Coleman and designer Anton Moody knew they wanted to choose a product that would stand the test of time and require little maintenance. This led to the use of Kebony modified wood, a stable and visually appealing alternative to tropical hardwoods. Over time, the cladding will naturally develop a silver-gray patina that ages gracefully with its surroundings.

Kohltech Passive House Certified Windows and Doors

Kohltech Passive House Certified Windows and Doors

SBS OneSource is proud to sell Kohltech Passive House Certified Windows and Doors

After forty years of innovation, Kohltech has established itself as an industry leader in both Canada and the United States. They are committed to creating high-performance windows and entrance systems, which allowed them to achieve the rigorous certification standard of the Passive House Institute US. There are only a handful of manufacturers in North America that offer PHIUS Certified window products. Kohltech is currently one of 11 manufacturers in the world to have certified entrance door products as well.

Originating in Germany, Passive House (Passivhaus) is a very rigorous standard for energy efficiency in a building. In order to be eligible for Passive House, houses must meet the following standards:

  • The building must be designed to have an annual heating and cooling demand as calculated with the Passivhaus Planning Package of not more than 15 kWh/m2 (4,2755 BTU/ft.; 5.017 MJ/sq. ft.) per year in heating or cooling energy OR be designed with a peak heat load of 10 W/m2 (1.2 hp/1000 sq. ft.)
  • Total primary energy (source energy for electricity, etc.) consumption (primary energy for heating, hot water and electricity) must not be more than 120 kWh/m2 (38,040 BTU/sq ft; 40.13 MJ/sq ft) per year
  • The building must not leak more air than 0.6 times the house volume per hour (n50≤ 0.6 / hour) at 50 Pa (0.0073 psi) as tested by a blower door, OR alternatively when looked at the surface area of the enclosure, the leakage rate must be less than 0.05 cubic feet per minute
  • The specific heat load for the heating source at design temperature is recommended, but not required, to be less than 10 W/m2 (3.17 BTU/h.ft2)

Kohltech offers a variety of products that meet the Passive House standards to make a house feel like a home with the added benefit of energy efficiency. Their Supreme window series offered in casement, awning, picture, tilt & turn and double hung with triple glazing glass options all have the Passive House certified stamp of approval. panoramah! Featured Project: La Moraleja Villa

panoramah! Featured Project: La Moraleja Villa

SBS OneSource is proud to feature this backyard oasis brought to you by panoramah’s sliding ah! system!

As your exclusive source for panoramah! in Massachusetts, we love to spotlight projects that give you a feel for what their products can do. Known as the minimal frame system, panoramah! uses the most advanced technology to create large sliding panels of glass, which deliver an expanded and unobstructed view. Created in Portugal, no frame is too tall for these sliding glass systems and the floor to ceiling vista is incredible.

Recognized worldwide as an innovative product and unique design, this featured XTEN Architecture project is located on the outskirts of Madrid. We’re highlighting this family house because it’s a perfect example of how panoramah! products can bring balance to a property by using open and closed volumes with spaces in between that become entry points, transitions and covered outdoor living spaces.

This particular area is arid and hot in the summer, so the design was created to position the buildings to protect the interiors from the sun, while the sliding ah! systems simultaneously open the house to light, air and the surrounding landscape. This product was a critical design request because of the sliding systems’ ability to allow for a seamless indoor/outdoor experience. The villa also features two ah!38 pocket motorized tri-rail windows connecting the main living room to the pool and to a mature oak woodland. These pocket motorized windows measure in at 43 feet long by 13 feet high. That’s a lot of glass! The view of the outdoors is uninterrupted, making this spot the perfect indoor/outdoor pool oasis. As pool and beach season quickly approaches, contact us if this unique design would fit for your next project.

Our window and door sales team receive factory training from each of our product lines that we sell exclusively for all of Massachusetts– the Islands, the Cape, the Berkshires, Boston, North Shore, and South Shore. Other than hands-on experience, they receive virtual training and detailed information to become experts on each fenestration product. And for architects who are looking for credits, they can turn to SBS Architectural Window & Door Director, Kendra Likely, CSI, CDT, who is certified to provide continuing education courses.

We’re also proud to say that our sales team has a combined 100+ years of experience and wealth of knowledge in the window and doors industry. Many of our sales people have been in the business for a number of years selling a variety of products. As they’ve become familiar with the high caliber of quality products that we sell, they truly value these products and know what will  be a great fit for whatever project they’re presented with. Their focus is providing the architects with industry leading products to specify and providing builders with the flexibility and support they need from a supplier. The WOW factors of the one of a kind products that we sell make it easy to entice builders and architects and knowing that these are quality, long-lasting fenestration options help us to build trust and cultivate long lasting relationships with everyone we sell to. The Art of the Install with A&A Building

The Art of the Install with A&A Building

Our partners over at A&A Building and Remodeling are featured as the cover story in the March/April issue of Builder + Architect Magazine!

The most recent issue of Builder + Architect Magazine shines the spotlight on the origin story of A&A Building and Remodeling. From humble beginnings, Artak Sahakyan built A&A from the ground up beginning with just two people framing houses and turning it into the 40-employee installation and remodeling business that it is today. Art’s incredible work ethic, integrity and commitment to quality paved the way for A&A and SBS to work so well together. It was early on in A&A’s story that Chris Dias of SBS OneSource introduced Art to a product that offered new opportunities for installation–a product that A&A continues to work with regularly today. Through a few key referrals to custom builders so that A&A could begin to grow, Art and Chris developed a strong relationship that is still thriving today.

The partnership has grown so much so that A&A currently does 100% of the window and door service and installations for the 8 fenestration manufacturers whose products are sold by SBS OneSource. That number represents 37% of the window service done by A&A. SBS OneSource is also responsible for up to 40% of the referrals for window and door installation projects as well as up to 70% of the framing projects done by A&A. At SBS, we highly value our relationship with Artak and the rest of the team at A&A and we truly enjoy working together to coordinate their factory-authorized installations of the architectural windows and doors that we sell. A&A Building & Remodeling has gone above and beyond to earn their reputation as consistently reliable. They are always wiling to do what others can’t or won’t and their success is a direct result of that. We are proud to play a part in their story and hope to continue to work together for many years to come. We hope that you’ll check out this month’s Builder + Architect Magazine and continue to support A&A Building & Remodeling as they grow and their story continues!
